The Silent Hill Series is a landmark in the survival-horror genre. Though perhaps initally developed as Konami's answer to the other popular survival-horror game at the time, Capcom's Resident Evil, (I don't know, I'm not a developer) it is an entirely seperate entity. Though the two may share a genre and a few gaming aspects, where ResEvil is scientific, Silent Hill is mystical and psychological. In its character and story-driven splendor, Silent Hill creates a thouroughly disturbing mood that lasts long after the game has ended.
