The Site

Silent Hill is an amazing game, both in storyline and graphics. There is so much to work with in the story, (and of course, the accompanying soundtracks) so many possibilities and themes to put into wallpapers, avatars, and images. I was overly inspired at the completion of the first and second games, and the acquisition of the third (and it's soundtrack) that I began turning out image after image, wallpapers and icons, which took up far too much space on my personal site, the now-defunct Terminally Insane.
So I decided to look into making a sperate site dedicated solely to Silent Hill. It took me some time to find a host, but I did, finally, find a wonderful host with an appropriate domain name ^_^ looking for hostees. I applied and within a week was accepted into the Silent-Asylum network by Kana, the owner. After that, it was only a matter of making a decent layout.

Chapter 2:
Fast forward a few months and a couple thousand hits, to a forum called Claw Finger. Enter Fever (aka Brandon) and his domain. After inescapable persistance (hey, twice is persistant enough for me), I agreed to go to all the messy trouble of moving to Silent Hill Fever. And voila, here we are, eating up space and bandwidth on another domain. But this time, we were invited. ;)

The Current Layout:
Version 5: Bloody Mess

Well, ROA had been needing a new layout for a while, so I attempted to revamp in time for Silent Hill Fever's 3rd anniversary. I even managed to scrape together a new layout, but by the time I got around to coding it, I realized how much it sucked, and scrapped it. Thus, we missed the anniversary (sorry!), but I resolved to revamp on my next break. So...this is the revamp. It features a concept design for the patient demons in Silent Hill 2, and a few screenshots of the nurse demons (monster love, yo~). I wanted to do something a bit lighter (both color-wise and loading time-wise) for the new version, and this is how it turned out. I'm reasonable pleased, especially with the navi, which was damn tricky. Much love to network-mates Silent Hill Media for the concept image, and Vert-Gazon for the texture!

Version 4

Version4::Somewhere

+cough+ This was made in a moment of weakness and enthusiasm for the movie, which I have no doubt will be horrible, was pretty bad. It's kind of graphics heavy, but I decided to indulge for one, and hope the 56k-ers don't hate me for it. Sorry dial-up-ers! The text "I'll find you somewhere" is present because I was making icons and sigs while listening to within Temptation's "Somewhere", and I heard the line, and just randomly put it down on a Rose/Sharon icon, then a Rose/Sharon sig, then...well, the layout ^^;.

Version 3

Version3::Waking Nightmare

Made in honor of the move. I began with a full-page tables layout, but decided that would be too hard on the 56K-ers out there, so opted for a less graphics-heavy, but still nice, tables layout. The images featured are two of my favorite Silent Hill images, just because they are so simple...yet represent the series nicely. Inspiration came from doing the header image for a certain forum...

Version 2

Version2::Burning Away

This layout features Angela in a big way, on her final walk up the burning stairs.

I have to thank Silent Hill Heaven in a big way for this layout. They have a TON of excellent images and amazing screencaps, and I would be lost without their archive.
The story? I saw the picture of Angela on the stairs, from such a weird angle, with such a strange expression on her face, and knew I had to do something with it. Plus, I wanted to celebrate my love for SH2, my favorite of the games.

Version 1: Gallery

My first attempt at tables, featuring an image from SH3

With this layout I was experimenting with tables, because prior to this, I was unable to do anything but full page I-frame layouts. That didn't seem appropriate here, so I learned tables. For my first attempt, I'm pretty proud.
As for the look, I was going for and art gallery approach, hence the title. Heather looking at that image seemed to be a perfect fit.
